Lazy Sunday Afternoon

We could not decide what to do with what could very well be one of our last pleasant summer-like Sundays. Kevin went to lunch with friends and I took the kids to the market. By the time we were home it was too late for the lake or any other big outing. The neighborhood pool looked crowded, and we had just played at the school yard on Saturday night on our way home from dinner... what to do? We decided to go for a walk to the stream near our house. The kids loved it and so did we! We saw crawfish, tadpoles, fish, and frogs. The kids played in the water and Julian led the charge to try swimming in the shallow water. They are so used to just stripping down at the detsky dom so that is just what they did! It was such a wonderful, relaxing family time. :)

These are the days! We won't have the time that most parents have with their kids. We are trying to make the most of the time that we have though before the chapter turns and they are more independent. We feel so blessed each day to be called their parents.

I too have pics of kids, all stripped down, in the creek. I guess it's just too tempting.

It looks like you guys are having a ball. Micah sits on the counter just like Sophie does. He squats on flat feet. I actually got a picture of it the other day while he was doing a science experiment so I will post it soon.

Never mind, I thought she had both feet flat under her but only the one in the foreground is down. I guess Micah will just have to be wierd by himself:):):). LOL!

Tonya, she actually does that too. She used to do it even more than she does now. The squat was apparently the detsky dom position of choice for being on the ground playing. I saw all the kids doing it.

Sophie's feet really are flat too. (I know that is not what you were trying to say.) They made this huge deal about it during our medical review at the orphanage. Maybe Ukrainians really frown on flat feet for some reason. She seems perfectly fine to me. She actually walks very confidently and carries herself like someone who knows where they are going is is proud of where they have been. I love that about her!

Hello Kevin and Krista! It was nice of you to post on our blog. We are on our 3rd week in Ukraine and have hit a few bumps along the way. However, we know God brought our 3 children into our lives and will not send us home without them. We've enjoyed looking at your pictures and reading about your experience.

How quickly did your children learn English? We are teaching single words right now, but wonder how things went when you got home? Can we email: rbutsko@columbus.rr.com ?

These are some awesome pictures Krista!
The black and white really seems to capture that "old school" moment of playing in a creek.
My favorite is the one of them stripped down, how adorable is that? Take care!

They always look so happy!

I did the samething with Tetyana and her first American birthday party. I had planned on staying but when I notice she was just hanging on to me I decided it would be much more fun if she stayed by herself. She ended up having a great time.

Enjoy the last of summer. It is still hot here and will be until at least the end of October!

You are so blessed each day to be called their parents, and they are blessed to be called your children. Your family is gorgeous, and so obviously happy.
