Dates with Mama or Pop

One thing we try to be very intentional about is spending time with the kids alone, or 2 at a time. Kevin generally does a Costco run 2 or 3 Saturdays a month and often takes a couple kids with him while I do whatever else needs to be done with the others. I often take the girls with me to do "girl things" while the boys will do "boy things" with Kevin. Sometimes they get one on one time with us as well. Besides Tate, who had me to himself all school year last year, we rarely get to talk to them one on one and spend quality time where they are allowed to have us all to themselves. So we take time out to do that occasionally. Something like a trip to the market can be special if you make it that way. :)

I remember this trip to Target was just Lily and I. I let her pick out whatever she wanted at Starbucks. The lady put lots of extra carmel swirls in it for her too! She sat in the cart and we browsed around at whatever she wanted to besides getting the things we went for. Can't you just see the sparkle in her eyes? :) I love that!

Our sweet Lily Grace. We love you so much! You are super silly, sassy, full of spunk, love to have a good time, and can be very quiet if it suits you. Most people who spend time with you will comment on your contagious laughter. You have the most awesome laugh! (It was one of the first things we noticed about you.) You love to read, shop, play with your dolls, drink Starbucks, and help around the house. You are a very good listener and an awesome helper. You will make a fabulous mom some day. I can't wait to see what life holds for you!

Do they still call you Mama and Papa? I have to say I love hearing that from the girl we are hosting. We said we didnt want it to ever switch to Mom and Dad after we come back from UA with our forever kids. I love it.
Youre right, Lily's eyes do sparkle. She's cute as can be! I love that you find one on one time for them all. Such special memories!

I have tears in my eyes. She sounds like such a wonderful little girl. What a blessing!

They do, Brooke. I am usually Mama, sometimes Mommy, and occasionally Mom. Kevin is Papa, Poppy, or Pop. I think the reason that it lasted is that the four of them reinforce each other. If there had been American siblings, it wouldn't have lasted.

They call Kevin's parents Babushka and Deudushka, as well. We just introduced them that way so they would understand who they were.

Our daughter called me mommy from the start and my husband "Tato". We loved Tato but after about 2 months home she changed it to daddy like our bio son calls him. We tried forever to get her to go back but it just never happened.

Lily has such a sweet face. I was just telling my husband about your family yesterday and told him that if we had been presented your children at the SDA, we would have gobbled them up in a heartbeat even though we only went for one.

Looks like you are all doing an amazing job. Keep posting!

Hi Michelle! We didn't go for 4 either! ;) I do wish that we had their referral pictures, but we never went back to the SDA and asked to take a picture of them.

Yes, I bet Sage just followed Luke and called you guys what he calls you. I doubt our kids would if we had bio kids at home.

I am trying to blog more, we'll see. What about you? I am waiting for some Christmas pictures!

:) Krista

I really need to blog more!!! After events/outings or things happen, I have posts rolling around in my head but never get them to the blog!! Bad!!

I didn't know we could go back for the referral pictures until after we were home. When we were at our appt. I asked if I could take a picture of it and they looked at me like I was crazy and told me "NO". Never occurred to us to go back after our adoption was complete.
