We've Got Tickets!

We are one step closer to traveling. We bought our tickets today. We are flying Lufthansa. Charlotte straight to Munich and then on to Kiev. We will be spending the day in Germany and have an evening flight on to Kiev. You don't need a visa to leave the airport so we might do some sightseeing. If we are too tired to venture out though we will probably pay the 30 euros and use one of the lounges. A hot shower and a quiet place to rest will probably sound good after the 9 hour red-eye.

I am also happy to say that the airport has a Starbucks in it. I'm not saying I will be having mocha withdraws as soon as I leave the country; I'm just excited about adding another mug to my Starbucks mug collection. I have all U.S. mugs so far. Lots of them, from a few Hawaiian Islands all the way to Puerto Rico. So I will be adding my first international mug to the collection. I'm sure I will be thrilled to be hauling a mug around for the rest of my trip, don't you think? This is the reason we will pack light. I must have a Munich mug! ;) Russian adopters get to visit the new Starbucks there, but Kiev has yet to get a Starbucks so we will unfortunately not be able to find one there.

What?! No Starbucks in Kiev?! I may have to rethink this whole thing now. :) Congrats on the tickets!!

Congratulations on the tickets! We have an appointment in mid-July, so maybe you'll be on your way out of the country as we are on our way in!

Best wishes!

Sounds like you are taking a similar flight as we did, though on the way out we flew through DC to Austria (on Lufthunsa)but my return flight flew me from Munich straight back into CLT.

Check out our flight experience on my blog :-)

What I think I left out on that post was the the Kyiv airport was CLOSED due to whether and the airport conditions. However, I did not leave Starbucks out of my post and is actually one of the first things I mentioned LOL

The mug won't be so bad to haul around cuz you can at least stuff it with socks or something (unlike all the stacking matruska dolls I hauled home!)

AND you don't have to bring boots like I did. Talk about space-hoggers!

So excited for ya'll! :)

Hey there! Congrats on your appointment date and getting ready to go! We submitted on April 15, so hopefully, we won't be too far behind. This is our second adoption and I have to say, I'm just as nervous.

You're a fellow Starbucks mug collector, cool! I dedicated a post to that little hobby:

Anyway, best of luck to you!

It's exciting to hear about your progress. Wish we would have been traveling at the same time. No new word yet.
Munich is a beautiful city of you have the time. I'm not sure how far the airport is to Marionplatz, but it's worth it if you can. I've never been to the Munich airport, but the Frankfurt one has lots of shops inside. One of our favorite pastimes during an airport visit was to people watch; quite interesting.
